Activities
(on site or nearby):
Santa
Ana is very popular with foreignersits a place that has
developed very quickly, converting into one of the most modern cities
of Costa Rica. It has an abundance of facilities and services for all
types of travelers including shopping malls, restaurants, stores, banks,
pharmacies, and Costa Ricas largest mall, MultiPlaza. It is located
within close proximity to Price Smart and Office Depot and the world-class
CIMA Hospital Medical Tower. In addition there are two golf courses
nearby. The food court mall, Momentum, has some of the best restaurants
in the country and throughout the area you can find numerous excellent
restaurants. Find
recommendations below: Eskazu
Taj MaJal. This burst of Northern Indian flavor is such a rarity in
Central America that we can overlook the slightly less-than-factual
claim that the restaurant is the isthmus's only such option. The suburban
mansion went through a few dining incarnations before Taj Mahal became
a hit in 2003. Richly swathed in warm fuchsias, red ochres, and golds,
the dining area sprawls through a handful of small, intimate rooms out
to an outdoor gazebo in the tree-covered backyard. The price-to-portion
size is a little high, particularly for North Americans used to good,
cheap Indian food, but the sharp Tandoori dishes, curries, and biryanis
are a welcome vacation from ubiquitous European and American fare.

Le
Monaster. This monastery-themed formal restaurant high in the San Rafael
hills has a great view of the Central Valley. The dining room is dressed
up in antiques, with tables set for a five-course meal; waiters don
short friar tunics over their standard black pants and white shirts,
which makes the atmosphere too theatrical tastes, but the classic French
dishes are served.
Santa
Ana Machu Pichu, Peruvian food. The food is anything but plain, and
the seafood is excellent at both the east- and west-side branches of
this mainstay. The pique especial de mariscos (special seafood platter),
big enough for two, presents you with shrimp, conch, and squid cooked
four ways. The ceviche here is quite different from and better than
that served in the rest of the country. A blazing Peruvian hot sauce
served on the side adds zip to any dish, but be careful -- apply it
by the drop. Oh, and one more warning: the pisco sours go down very
easily.
El
Rodeo, Steak House.
El
Estribo, Steak House.
Bacchus.
The cuisine is a mix of French and Italian dishes such as duck breast
in a port sauce, baked mushroom-and-polenta ragout, and a variety of
pizzas. Modern art decorates the simple but elegant interior, and outdoor
seating is available. An extensive wine list and reasonable prices make
it a great pick for dinner.
Pan
y Vino, Italian Food. Look closely at the extensive menu here: there
are 40 varieties of the capital's best thin-crust pizza, and no one
will rush you if you spend too much time pondering what you want. Complete
selection of pastas. You can dine until midnight daily, expect on Sunday,
when you'll have.
